Umami is our fifth taste and you will learn all about delicious umami-rich ingredients and how to use them in our classes.
We understand about umami, and how it can amplify and heighten flavours, we know about seasoning and how it can bring flavour out of food, we know how important the eyes, nose and ears are in how you experience food, and we bring this to life for you in our interactive classes.
Why does this help?
Cancer and cancer treatment can impact people’s taste buds so the food that they eat lacks any flavour, this, in turn, can make them lose their appetite.
Umami boosts all of the other taste receptors. Umami creates more flavour in the mouth, and synergistic umami – adding more than one umami type ingredient to a recipe – boosts the flavour even more.
